Privacy Policy
CutSI is an iPhone app that turns raw videos you record or choose into edited vertical clips. This policy explains what stays on your iPhone, what leaves it, who processes it, and the choices you have.
The short version
- Your full videos, audio, transcripts, projects, and exports stay on your iPhone.
- When you ask for an AI edit, selected still frames, your transcript, and editing instructions are sent through our server to Anthropic to plan the edit. You agree to this in the app before the first AI edit, and you can turn it off.
- Your account is created automatically and anonymously. Signing in with Apple is optional, and we don't ask Apple for your name or email.
- Analytics, crash reports, and advertising measurement are off unless you turn them on. Advertising measurement also needs Apple's tracking permission.
- We don't sell your personal information, and we never put your footage, captions, file names, or instructions into analytics or advertising events.
What stays on your iPhone
Your original recordings, cleaned-up audio, transcripts (made on your iPhone with Apple's speech recognition), visual analysis, edit versions, project history, and finished videos are processed and stored on your device. Selecting a video does not upload the video. Videos you save to Photos or share to other apps are then handled under those apps' policies.
What is sent when you use AI editing
To plan an edit or an AI change, the app sends a selection of still frames from your video, the transcript text and word timings, short visual summaries (for example detected on-screen text and where a product appears), the video's length and dimensions, and your editing instructions. This goes over an encrypted connection to our service on Cloudflare, which passes it to Anthropic, whose Claude model returns an edit plan. This content can include people, faces, voices, and anything said or shown in your video.
The app asks for your permission before the first AI request, and you can turn off “Allow AI processing” at any time in Account & privacy. Turning it off stops new requests. It does not delete data that was already processed.
Anthropic processes this content as our service provider under its commercial terms. You can read how Anthropic handles API data at privacy.anthropic.com. Cloudflare hosts our service; see Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Your account
When you first open CutSI, the app creates an anonymous account with Google Firebase Authentication. It is identified by a random ID and is used to keep your plan, top-ups, and video count. If you choose Sign in with Apple, we link it to that account so your plan works on your other iPhones. We don't request your name or email from Apple. Firebase App Check (using Apple's App Attest) confirms that requests come from the real CutSI app.
Purchases and plan limits
Subscriptions and top-ups are sold and charged by Apple; we never see your payment details. RevenueCat manages subscription status for us and receives your account ID and App Store purchase information (products, dates, renewal and refund status, and transaction IDs).
To enforce plan limits, our service keeps a billing record for each subscription and account. It contains the number of videos used in the current period, top-up transaction IDs, and for each edited clip a fingerprint (a one-way hash, not the video), its length, and how many AI changes were used. The result of each AI request is kept for up to 24 hours so a retry is never charged twice, and is then deleted.
Optional analytics, crash reports, and advertising measurement
These are off by default. You control each one in Account & privacy.
- Product analytics (Google Firebase Analytics): events such as an edit starting, finishing, or failing, an AI or manual change, a video being saved or shared, and a purchase completing, along with standard device and app information.
- Crash diagnostics (Firebase Crashlytics): crash reports with device, OS, and app details, used to fix bugs.
- Advertising measurement (Meta App Events and TikTok App Events): the same in-app events, plus your device's advertising identifier, so we can measure our ads. This needs your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, and you can turn it off at any time.
Event data never contains your footage, captions, transcripts, file names, or editing instructions.
How long we keep data
- Content sent for AI editing is not stored by our service beyond the 24-hour retry window described above. Anthropic's retention is set out in its policies.
- Billing records are kept while your account or subscription exists. Usage counts tied to a subscription are kept after you delete your account, so plan limits can't be reset by reinstalling the app.
- Service logs on Cloudflare are kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting.
- Apple and RevenueCat keep purchase records under their own policies.
Your choices and rights
- Delete projects in the app at any time. They are stored only on your iPhone.
- Delete your account in Account & privacy → Delete account. This deletes your CutSI account and the clip history on our service. It does not cancel your Apple subscription; manage that in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.
- Turn AI processing, analytics, crash reports, and advertising measurement on or off in Account & privacy.
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or get a copy of your personal information, or to object to certain processing. Ask through the support form below and we'll respond within the time the law requires. We may need to verify your request.
Sharing
We share data only with the service providers named in this policy (Cloudflare, Anthropic, Google Firebase, RevenueCat, and, if you allow it, Meta and TikTok), when the law requires it, or to protect CutSI and its users from fraud and abuse. We don't sell personal information.
Children
CutSI is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
International processing and security
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. We use encrypted connections, verify that requests come from the real app, and limit what leaves your device to what an edit needs.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If a change materially affects how your data is used, we'll tell you in the app.
